Lauren Socha co-stars in the ever-so-popular Misfits TV series.
She’s over on the Island for the first time at the Minghella Film Festival with Robert Sheehan and presented the award for the best short film by a young person last night (interview with them coming soon too).
We chatted about her first experience on the Island, how talented young Islanders are and her top-tips on doing well in acting.
“The talent around here is amazing”
“I think the talent around here is amazing,” she said after watching the short films submitted by young Islanders last night.
Dominic Minghella had also said something very similar in his presentation, Lauren expanded, “This is the only place that I know of that has stuff like this around. You can show you talent off – not just in drama and acting – but in camera-work, script writing, editing.”
“Head down – and work hard”
When we asked Lauren for tips of getting in to acting, she was definitive, “Don’t listen to criticism.”
Confidence was also important, as was an aura of happiness and putting yourself forward, “You can’t be shy and you can’t hold back from anything.”
In summary, “Head down – and work hard.” [audio:http://otw-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/lauren-socha-minghella-film-fest-2011.mp3]
