From tomorrow morning, carriageway repairs will be taking place in Ventnor in preparation for the cycling race taking place on 26th June as part of the NatWest Island Games.
Road closures will result in several diversions, the first taking place due to closure of Victoria Street and Albert Street.
The council Website displays the following information on the closures and diversions.
From Monday
From 9am on Monday 9 until approx 9am on Thursday 12 May 2011 A3055 VICTORIA STREET / ALBERT STREET will be closed between A3055 High Street and Market Street.
The one way restriction in Market Street will be temporarily reversed from a northbound to a SOUTHBOUND direction during this part of the works.
The one way restrictions in A3055 Victoria Street and Albert Street (from Victoria Street to Market Street) will be temporarily suspended to allow access.
The one way restriction in St Catherine’s Street will also be temporarily suspended with access possible from the Madeira Road direction.
Access to businesses and premises will maintained as far as possible during the works.
DIVERSION ROUTE: A3055 High Street, Trinity Road, B3327 St Boniface Road, Mitchell Avenue and Ocean View Road, Gills Cliff Road, Castle Road and Zig Zag Road, A3055 Alpine Road and Church Street.
Access to Albert Street (Market Street to Pier Street) and Pier Street will be available from Market Street (light traffic only).
From Wednesday 18th May
From approx 9am on Wednesday 18 until approx 4pm on Tuesday 24 May 2011 A3055 HIGH STREET will be closed between Pier Street and Victoria Street.
During part of the this period access to Central Car Park will not be possible.
The one way restrictions in A3055 High Street will be closed between Pier Street and Victoria Street and in Market Street (from Pound Lane to High Street) will be temporarily suspended to allow access.
Access to businesses and premises will maintained as far as possible during the works.

The one way restrictions in A3055 Albert Street (from Market Street to Pier Street) , in Pier Street and in Dudley Road will be temporarily suspended to allow access.
The one way restrictions in St Catherine’s Street will be temporarily suspended with access possible from the Madeira Road direction.
Access to businesses and premises will maintained as far as possible during the works.
