As reported earlier in the year, Key Stage 2 SATs results for Isle of Wight 11 year olds proved to be some of the worse in the country this year.
‘Unvalidated’ results were first published in August, but have now been formally released with only 62% of youngsters reported to have achieved level four or above in English and maths.
The BBC say that because of the change from three-tier to two-tier, schools were not listed individually in the tables, but an average for the authority was given, showing that the Isle of Wight had the worst performance in the country.
Schools Minister Nick Gibb said the Government would target the weakest primary schools in a bid to turn around chronic under-performance.
