We’ve been meaning to write an article about the Isle of Wight games company, Stainless Games, for years. In fact it’s been ever since we heard that Stainless were on the Island, you see, they created a video game of great note in the late 90s.
Carmageddon, as it was called, was seized on at the time by the UK tabloid media who labelled it as a ‘video game nasty’. It became legendary.
Well today gives us a perfect chance to mention them as they’ve just launched something very newsworthy (Thanks Laurie for the tip!).
They’re asking the public to pledge their money to develop the next version of the game – Carmageddon: Reincarnation. In return, those that fund it will be given things by Stainless Games in return.
(You too can contribute – see below)
Great start
So far over 4,500 people from around the world have pledged over $150,000 dollars in about two days – pretty impressive and a very good step towards the total they’re shooting for, $400,000.
Pledges can be as little as $1 up to $10,000. The more your offer, the more you get, for example for $1,000, a version of you can be included in the game as a pedestrian.
It’s great to see that another Isle of Wight technology company is getting global recognition for their work, as Stainless is through the BBC article that is running today.
