At Yarmouth’s pancake races earlier today, Michelin-star chef, Robert Thompson, was busy serving pancakes to highly excitable school children and residents
OnTheWight can reveal that Robert is now based at The George Hotel. Pictured here with owner Jeremy Willcock and mayor of Yarmouth Steve Cowley, it was smiles all round this morning for the annual pancake race.

The George has now officially confirmed Robert Thompson’s arrival:-
Robert Thompson confirms position as Head Chef at The George
Michelin Star Chef, and Isle of Wight resident, Robert Thompson, has confirmed that he has taken on the position of Head Chef at The George Hotel.
Mr Thompson said: “I’m honoured to be working on a new project at The George and to be able to continue my career on the Isle of Wight. There are exciting plans underway for both The George’s dining, and the hotel itself, which will be announced in more detail over the coming months.”
Robert was previously the face of The Hambrough in Ventnor where he gained and retained a Michelin Star for several years.
Ventnor’s loss is clearly going to be Yarmouth’s gain and we wish Robert all the best at The George.
