Lots for the family to do, as well as watch World-class Test cricket at the Ageas Bowl. Red Funnel describe what’s on offer as well as the travel deal they’ve put together for families – Ed.
Hampshire Cricket announced a new initiative to introduce Test Match cricket to a new, younger generation of fans.
Traditionally the preserve of the more mature cricket lover, Hampshire Cricket will put in place a number of exciting, engaging and entertaining attractions that are designed to make sure the 3rd England vs India Investec Test is truly a Test Match for the next generation.
The dates: 27–31 July
With the Test Match taking place from 27–31 July, it will be a fantastic way to let children see some of their sporting heroes, such as Stuart Broad and Virat Kohli, in the flesh and keep them entertained during the school holidays.
Lots to do, alongside World-class cricket
Over the course of the match, Hampshire Cricket will look to host a variety of activities for children such as magicians, fun fair attractions, face-painting and much more.
The Club is, however, keen to ensure it maintains a strong cricketing focus and will be offering children the chance to sign up for free coaching sessions that’ll be run throughout the day, by professional coaches from Hampshire Cricket.
Ageas Bowl: Newest, most modern Test ground
Speaking about the announcement, Stuart Robertson, Commercial Director, Hampshire Cricket said:
“As the newest, and most modern, Test ground in England, we believe we are the Test Match venue for the next generation. A Test Match between England and India is the biggest game we’ve hosted at the Ageas Bowl and we want to use this opportunity to introduce Test cricket to a new, younger audience.
“We have consulted widely with other attractions in the area, undertaken research and also spoken directly to some of our junior members to ask them what entertainment they would like to see at a Test Match.
“The results have been insightful and I think both parents, but especially children, will be excited with the kinds of entertainment and experiences we’ll have on offer throughout the Test Match.”
