ARRETON:
A3056 Arreton Street will be closed from 9am on Monday 20 April 2015 until approx. 6pm on Saturday 11 July 2015 between Downend Road and Hale Common. The closure is for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage and kerbing works by Island Roads and the road will be closed to through traffic day and night. Access to premises and businesses will be maintained from one end of the road as far as possible during the works.
The works will start at the junction with Downend Road and progress towards Hale Common.
The alternative routes will be: 1)-A3056 Arreton Road, Sandown Road, Blackwater Shute, A3020 Blackwater Hollow, Main Road, Newport Road, High Street (Godshill), Shanklin Road, Canteen Road , Ventnor Road ,A3056 Newport Road and Hale Common. 2)-Downend Road, Mersley Down Road, Brading Down Road, Bullys Hill, Hornsey Rise, A3055 Morton Road Morton Common, Broadway, Lake Hill and Sandown Road, A3056 Newport Road and Hale Common. A temporary 6ft 6in width restriction order will be introduced in a number of roads the Newchurch area including Knighton Shute, Knighton Lane, Langbridge, The Shute, High Street and Winford Road in the interests of road safety during the Arreton Street closure. Access to premises and businesses will be maintained. Temporary no waiting restriction will be in operation in Ventnor Road (Apse Heath) to assist with traffic flow. Bembridge Street Fair – 2015. High Street, Bembridge will be closed between Church Road and Woodland Grove. The closure is necessary for Bembridge Street fair and it will be in place from 10am until 6pm on Monday 25 May 2015. BRADING:
Marshcombe Shute. One way restriction. A one way restriction is in operation in Marshcombe Shute in an Eastbound direction (towards Bembridge) from a point 45 metres to the East of Yarbridge Crossroads to Yaverland Road junction from 3.30pm on Tuesday 16 September 2014. The one way restriction is necessary due to the installation of larger temporary safety barriers which have been erected in the interests of road safety by Island Roads adjacent to the railway and River Yar bridges. The vehicle restraint options for B3395 Marshcombe Shute are being considered in consultation with interested parties. Because of the steps that need to be taken before work can begin on site, it is expected that the scheme will be completed by June 2015. The one way system will also stay in place until the works are completed.
A full road closure of a few days will be required. The alternative route for all traffic travelling in a Westbound towards Yarbridge Crossroads Brading direction will be;
B3395 Yaverland Road and Culver Parade, Fort Street, Avenue Road A3055 Morton Road and Morton Common. The one- way restriction will then be removed. The 6ft 6in width restriction in Yaverland Road, Yaverland will be temporarily suspended whilst the one way restriction is in operation.
Quay Lane (outside Brading Church) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times from Monday 13 April until approx. Friday 22 May 2015 to enable repair works to be undertaken to Brading Church works by Peter Savage. Some traffic delays will occur. Esplanade will be closed from 2.30pm on Friday 25 April 2014 for the foreseeable future between 375 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road and the end of the highway 860 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road. There is no alternative route for traffic. This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road due to a landslip. FRESHWATER:
Cameron Close will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7am on Monday 18 November 2013 until 7am on Monday 18 May 2015 between the northern boundary of number 2 (45 metres north of the junction with Camp Road) and the end of the surfaced highway (110 metres to the northeast of Camp Road) by Stoneham Construction The closure is required for the demolition of existing buildings and construction of a new development Ltd. LAKE:
Ranalagh Road / Cliff Road / Cliff Path. From 1200hrs on Friday 18 July 2014 for the foreseeable future the following roads / path will be closed to vehicular traffic:
Cliff Road / Cliff Path will be closed from point 55 metres to the northwest of the junction with Ranalagh Road to point 185 metres to the south west of the junction with Cliff Gardens (the southern boundary of number 6). Ranalagh Road will also be closed from Cliff Road to a point 10 metres to the west of Cliff Road. During the period of closure there is no alternative route for vehicles. Mill Street will be closed from 9am on Monday 30 March until approx. 6pm on Friday 3 July 2015 between Old Westminster Lane and the end of the highway 35 metres to the Northwest. The closure is necessary for highway development works including the construction of a new junction onto Foxes Road by Aeropark Developments for Barrett Homes. Public Footpath N120 will be closed to pedestrians from 6am on Friday 6 March until 6am on Sunday 6 September 2015 between; A point 474 metres north to a point 516 metres north of the northern boundary of Seaclose Recreation Ground and a point 585 metres north to a point 607 metres north of the northern boundary of Seaclose Recreation Ground. The diversion route for pedestrians is through adjacent woodland at each location. Pearl Izumi Tour Series
On Thursday, 14th May 2015 the Island will host the first round of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series a leading televised cycle race – with the UK’s top cyclists competing in a fast-paced road race around a 1.2km street circuit in Ryde. Launched in 2009, 2015’s Pearl Izumi Tour Series takes place in 10 town and city centres and is the only British domestic cycle race to be televised. Ten teams will be heading to the Isle of Wight, taking on an opening team time trial around the Ryde circuit mid-afternoon, before the first circuit race of the Series gets underway at 7.30pm.
The following restrictions and roads will be closed to enable the event to take place;
Esplanade (southern carriageway) will be closed from Dover Street to St Thomas Street between approx. 6am and midnight on Thursday 14th May 2015. Other roads that will be closed from approx. 9am until midnight on Thursday 14th May 2015 will be: Dover Street, from Esplanade to Melville Street, Melville Street, from Dover Street to George Street, Cross Street and St Thomas Square / Union Street from Cross Street to Esplanade. There will also be restricted access in certain roads including; Union Road, Castle Street, Nelson Lane, George Street (Esplanade to Cross Street), Nelson Place and Bellevue Road and one way restrictions will be in operation in Union Road and parts of St Thomas Street and East Street. ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive will remain closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road and Mirables which is located about a mile towards Niton. Following significant ground movement in the area in early February 2014, Undercliff Drive has been physically closed between Mirables (in the west) and a point 560 metres to the West of Seven Sisters Road (in the east) for safety reasons. There is now no access for vehicles or pedestrians. A formal road and footpath closure will be in operation for the foreseeable future. Access to businesses and attractions in Undercliff Drive will be maintained. During the period of closure the alternative route for traffic will be; Pedestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Public Footpath V81, V77, NT28, NT29, NT30 and A3055 Undercliff Drive. WHIPPINGHAM: / EAST COWES:
A3021 Whippingham Road (between Racecourse Roundabout and Crossways Road). Carriageway resurfacing works are programmed to be undertaken between 6.30pm and 6am on approximately 12 to 15 nights (Monday to Fridays only) from approx. Friday 8 May until late May 2015 (weather and other circumstances permitting) by Island Roads. 1)-Temporary traffic control will be required and a convoy system of working will be in operation to surface the section of Whippingham Road between Racecourse Roundabout and East Cowes Road. 2)-A road closure will be required to surface the section of Whippingham Road between East Cowes Road and Alverstone Road (near Folly Lane). Traffic will be diverted via; Alverstone Road.
3)-Temporary traffic control will be required and a convoy system of working will be in operation to surface the section of Whippingham Road between Alverstone Road (near Folly Lane) and Saunders Way Roundabout. 4)-A road closure will also be required to surface the section of Whippingham Road between Saunders Way Roundabout and Crossways Road. Traffic will be diverted via Saunders Way, Beatrice Avenue, Victoria Grove and York Avenue. Works are due to start at Racecourse Roundabout and progress towards Crossways Road.
