Isle of Wight skateboarding hero, John Cattle, has been running his Skate Club classes on the Island for many years now.
He provides a safe environment for young people to learn how to skateboard, giving them the skills to be able to hit their local skate ramps with confidence.
Chance of winning £1,000
His low-cost lessons make learning to skateboard an affordable option for many, but the club could do with a cash injection to replace the much-needed equipment, without the need to increase their charges.
The Mars Milk Play fund are running a competition every month until the end of September in which they’ll donate £1,000 cash award to a sports individual, club or project in need of extra funding.
At the end of each month the entry that receives the most votes will receive the £1,000 award. All you have to do is pop over to the Mars Milk competition page and vote.

SKATE CLUB is run by veteran professional skateboarder John Cattle and his team. John has been skateboarding for nearly 30 years, and aims to provide as many people with the opportunity to skate as possible.
Skate Clubbers range from 4 years to 69 years old, and of all abilities, from absolute beginner to old pro, including sessions for children and young people with additional needs and disability. John believes everyone can learn to skateboard and in the last four years has never failed to get someone rolling within the first hour.
As well as being huge amounts of fun, skateboarding is a great physical activity, and also promotes the skills of self control, perseverance, teamwork and self confidence, with parents, teachers and young people reporting seeing these skills increase in other area’s of life outside of sessions. John Cattle aims to provide affordable sessions to around 200 people every week, with all equipment provided for no additional charge.
John Cattle’s skate Club also supports various community projects to help promote skateboarding across the whole of the Isle of Wight.
