Hovertravel has added even more late night flights over the August bank holiday weekend, following a request from Ryde Town Council.
There are now over 30 additional flights over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, with several operating past midnight.
A spokesperson for Ryde Town Council added,
“We know the businesses of Ryde are very keen to attract more custom from tourists and having listened to this feedback we have been in talks with Hovertravel to encourage them to operate later.
“The August Bank Holiday weekend is a great opportunity to make a splash through extensive promotion of what a great night out in Ryde can offer to our visitors.
“With the extended evening timetable now in place, we are continuing to work in partnership with Hovertravel to highlight the wide variety of activities available.”
Victorious Festival and Scooter Weekend
With the award-winning Victorious Festival open all weekend, some Island residents will be visiting Southsea Common and visitors to the Isle of Wight will be able to enjoy a bumper weekend of activities from the nationally renowned Scooter Rally to the Ticket to Ryde festival which is now in its eighth year.
Chapman: Only possible thanks to the dedication of our teams
Neil Chapman, managing director of Hovertravel, said,
“We have a very close working relationship with Ryde Town Council and when they explained they were looking at ways to boost the night-time economy in Ryde, we worked with our teams to boost our operation with extra flights.
“Hovertravel is a business with strong community values and we see supporting local business, by attracting more tourists and helping to keep tourists on the Island for longer, as an important role in developing the Ryde economy.
“These additional flights are only possible thanks to the dedication of our teams, including the ops staff, the engineers and the pilots who volunteer to work overtime.”
The times of all the additional flights can be viewed on Hovertravel’s interactive timetable.
