600 Tonnes of wood waste currently smouldering

The Isle of Wight Fire service is attending a call at a site opposite Lynnbottom Tip.

The call came in at 8:09 and they initially sent one fire engine.

They discovered that there’s 600 Tonnes of wood waste smouldering at the site.

Since then, there’s been a request for a further fire engine and a separate water carrier, to provide water for the engines.

They’re up Coombley Lane.

It seems that Ventnor’s UKIP County Councillor, Graham Perks, prefers to oppose VTC’s ambitions at County level, rather than attend meetings of the VTC.
Tweet 14 above:
“Cllr Perks complaining they haven’t see the Lease for Coastal Centre. Confusing comment given it’s in the papers”.
Is it possible that he didn’t read, or failed to understand, the papers ?!

What fantastic news and a complete vindication of VTC, its Officers and Councillors (I declare an interest as a Councillor) in their pursuance of this and the support of IW Council in approving the lease. As I have always said – best value does not necessarily mean an asset has to be sold, especially when value to the Community trumps value to the IW Council, which gained… Read more »
