‘Ability Dogs 4 Young People’ achieves charitable status

Ability Dogs 4 Young People is a newly formed charity and we are training assistance dogs for young disabled people here on the Island.

Our highly trained assistance dogs will provide practical help with tasks like picking up dropped items and opening doors for young people (aged 16-24) as they start their journeys into adult life.

Achieved charitable status
We are pleased to tell you that Ability Dogs 4 Young People has achieved charitable status and has been entered onto the Charity Commission Register of Charities with Charity Number 1148751.

We have satisfied the Charity Commission’s criteria for charitable purpose and public benefit.

We are delighted to have achieved registered charity status so quickly, since we only started the charity in April this year (2012). Since then things have moved extremely fast.

Three puppies so far
We started our first puppy, Georgie, at eight weeks of age with a Puppy Parent at the end of May, and Maisy joined at nine months of age at the end of June.

Abby is our third puppy, she is now 3 months and she started with her puppy parent in July.

Training these puppies takes a lot of dedication and a lot of love, and they will be ready to help a disabled young person at about the age of two years.

Fancy getting involved?
Now that we are registered, we are looking to increase the number of puppies in training.
