RNLI estimate 4,500 people took part in the Fort Walk at the weekend, with one rescue of a father and sons.
There’s a slight mystery that surrounds the Bembridge fort walk near St Helens each year – that being the exact date of it changes from year to year.
It is only possible when the tides are at their lowest, as – and this is the attraction of the event – those who take part walk through the sea to reach the Fort, normally out to sea.
The approach is either from Bembridge or St Helens.
