The Isle of Wight council has had an interim arrangement with Hampshire in place since the beginning of last year. They are recommending the cabinet approve a long-term arrangement.
The service costs the council £400,000 per annum to run, but according to national network, Community Catalysts, each Local Area Co-ordinator (there are nine of them) has saved the council around £500,000 over three years.
All those who will be impacted by the planned closures of the mental health day centres are encouraged to attend this public meeting next week to ensure your voice is heard, including family, friends and concerned residents.

Dedicated members of staff will now support a community-based, multi-agency homeless hub with outreach services for those sleeping rough who have multiple and complex needs with alcohol, drugs or mental health.
Concern was raised by Cllr Mosdell that the scheme as currently penned, only covers patients needing chemotherapy, radiotherapy and renal dialysis, but not those, for example, with significant neurological issues.
