East Cowes, Newport, Ryde, Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor have all entered the UK Town of Culture competition, launched in Feb 2026 by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to celebrate the unique stories of towns across the country and their contribution to national cultural life.
