Aged 18 and over but not vaccinated yet? Visit the Riverside Vaccination Centre in Newport

Solent NHS Trust’s Riverside Vaccination Centre in Newport is encouraging everyone eligible to come forward for their Covid-19 vaccination.

The Riverside Centre has been offering residents first and second doses of Pfizer and AstraZeneca and a fantastic number of Islanders have received their jabs at Riverside since it opened its doors on 1st February 2021.

Covid-19 vaccinations are still available on the Island, with no need to travel to the mainland. Vaccinations will continue to be available to all eligible Islanders and will be provided by GP practices as vaccinations at the Riverside conclude on 26th August.

Anderson: “Incredibly grateful to all the volunteers and staff”
Angela Anderson, Clinical Director of the Vaccination Programme at Solent NHS Trust said,

“We are incredibly grateful to all the volunteers and staff who have worked at the Riverside Centre since it opened in February of this year; the response from people who have visited the centre to receive their vaccination has been incredibly positive.”

Over 200,000 vaccines given
Angela added,

“Our people at the Riverside Centre and GPs on the Island have now given over 200,000 vaccines to people on the Island.

“We need everyone to come forward and take up the evergreen offer of a jab which is why we are calling everyone aged 18 and over to get fully vaccinated.”

The latest data from Public Health England (PHE) and Cambridge University shows that around 60,000 deaths, 22 million infections and 52,600 hospitalisations have been prevented by vaccines up to 23 July.
