Alan Titchmarsh Opens St Catherine’s School Fete (Podcast)

Alan Titchmarsh Opens St Catherine's School FeteDear old St Catherine’s School had their fete this afternoon, drawing good crowds of supporters.

The High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight, Alan Titchmarsh, opened the event and we were there to catch a little time with him while he was waiting for a fruit smoothie made by some of the pupils.

Prior to this he’d been wandering around the fete having masses of photos taken of him with various members of the public – on reflection, perhaps he should have suggested donations to St Catherine’s for each one taken.

It sounds like he’s been very busy since his inauguration on 7 April, with today being his 47th official engagement. He’s been writing these up on his diary/blog.

By way of background, during the chat Alan mentions Noblesse oblige, a phrase first said by François Gaston duc de Lévis.

Below are a few of the shots that we took during the fete.
