Readers will remember that last month Cowes Enterprise College announced that Alan Wells was resigning as chair of Governors with immediate effect.
What wasn’t explicitly mentioned at the time was that Mr Wells had also resigned from the Cowes Pathfinder Trust.
Confusion over company listings
The information was brought to our attention this morning when a reader discovered on the Dellam.com Website that, despite the Cowes Pathfinder Trust being incorporated on 16th February 2010, Alan Wells and Keith Simmonds were listed as only being appointed as Directors from 9th January 2013.
The records also show that just two months later, 8th March 2013, both men resigned their posts from the Trust.
OnTheWight got in touch with Rachael Fidler, Chair of the College Governing Body, to find out more.
Incorrect information
Ms Fidler confirmed that although the resignation dates were correct, the appointment dates on Dellam.com was incorrect and that Keith Simmonds and Alan Wells had, in fact, been involved with the Trust for much longer.
She wasn’t able to provide an actual date, but would be updating us once she had the paperwork to hand.
No longer chair of Trust
Ms Fidler also confirmed that she has resigned as chair of the Trust since becoming chair of the Governing Body (following Alan Wells’ resignation).
It was agreed at a Trust meeting that the Trust will have a rotating chair. They felt this move would draw a clear line between the roles.
Special Measures
Cowes Enterprise Trust was placed in Special Measures in January 2013 and recently confirmed their intention to work with Academy sponsor Ormiston Academy Trust.
