With all the recent news about footballers collapsing while playing a game and other sportsmen/women also being caught out by sudden heart failure, the Isle of Wight is about to hold it’s first Heart Awareness Day.
NHS South Central Specialised Commissioning group and the Cardiomyopathy Association have joined forces to help the organisers about making people aware of living with heart failure.
Affecting one in 500 people
Cardiomyopathy is the number one cause of sudden death in the under 35s here in the UK, it affects one in 500 people.
The event is a joint organised event put together by Georgina Newnham, community heart failure nurse for the Isle of Wight and Gilbert Wheeler from the Cardiomyopathy Support Group
Where and when
The date of the event is Saturday 12th May 2012, venue is the Medina Masonic Lodge, 26 Castle Road, Cowes, with the meeting planned to start at 10am registration is from 9.30am tea/coffee will be available throughout the day and lunch will be available at a small cost.
