Bunting will be out to show the way to cream teas and cakes at a summer fundraiser in aid of the chairman’s charity, South Wight Area Youth (SWAY), this weekend.
All are welcome to attend the garden party on Sunday (21st August), at Bevois Farm, Laceys Lane, Niton, PO38 2DN, between 12 noon and 4pm.
Cllr Claire Critchison said,
“There will be young people helping and representatives of SWAY at the event to tell you more about their projects.
“Or just come and enjoy the view and refreshments!”
Charity of the year
Cllr Critchison announced SWAY as her chosen charity for the coming year after being elected chairman at the annual meeting of the Isle of Wight Council in May.
The charity was established in 2014 with the aim of bringing young people together in social groups and volunteering opportunities within their communities.
It runs regular meet-ups during the week, activities in the school holidays, residential trips and other special events.
Fundraising for community hub in Chale
The charity is currently in the final stages of fundraising to build a community hub in Chale, providing a shop, cafe and meeting rooms for the benefit of the local area.
