Andrew Turner MP has, with only seven hours notice, dropped out of the first Isle of Wight election hustings – #TwestionTime.
#TwestionTime has been organised by the Isle of Wight college. The idea is that the candidates sit in a room that has been especially organised, then answer questions from people over Twitter. It was expected that these would mainly be the young people of the Island.
McKie: “Deep disappointment”
Iain McKie, UKIP candidate, told OnTheWight that the candidates accepted the invitation two and a half weeks ago.
“It’s with deep disappointment that we hear that Andrew Turner isn’t going to show up and defend his record. This one was for the young people of the Island – they’ve been let down by Andrew.
The reason?
We’ve contacted Andrew Turner’s office to ask him for his reasoning, but, at time of publishing, we haven’t heard back.
The TwestionTime Twitter account said it was “due to Parliamentary business.”
We are disappointed to announce that Andrew Turner has withdrawn from #TwestionTime this evening due to Parliamentary business.
