Angel Radio celebrates 18 years on FM and launches SOS appeal for DAB licensing

Angel Radio Isle of Wight marked a major milestone on 24th March, celebrating 18 years of full-time broadcasting on FM.

The station also noted 26 years since it first began broadcasting in January 1999 under restricted service licences, whenever funds allowed.

Plans to expand on DAB
Looking to the future, the team at Angel Radio Isle of Wight hopes to extend its reach across the Island by broadcasting on DAB as well as FM.

Wight Digital Radio is providing technical support to help make this expansion possible.

Appeal to keep ads off the air
To help cover the costs of DAB licensing, Angel Radio Isle of Wight has launched an SOS appeal.

The licence fees run into thousands of pounds, and the station is keen to meet the costs without turning to advertising, which they describe as “tiresome”.

Vintage favourites still going strong
Angel Radio Isle of Wight continues to broadcast on 91.50FM, offering a nostalgic mix of music from 1900 to 1969.

Listeners can also enjoy classic radio shows, comedies, and many well-loved tunes from the golden age of radio. Visit the website for more information.
