Angel Radio Isle of Wight marks 25 years of broadcasting nostalgia

Angel Radio Isle OF Wight celebrates its 25th birthday on air this year and 17 years full time broadcasting on FM.

Established in 1999, Angel Radio became the Island’s first Community radio station. We broadcast for the first eight years on restricted service licences, which allowed us two 28 day slots per year.

Angel Radio then began broadcasting full time on the Wightfibre network (then called Wight Cable) in 2001.

FM licence
After a long struggle we were finally granted a full FM licence and on 24th March 2007 we went on air on 91.50 FM 24 hours a day for the last 17 years.

We are still run and staffed entirely by super volunteers.

Comedy and adventure
Angel Radio broadcasts all the old comedy programmes including Hancock’s half hour, the Goons, Around the Horn, Life with the Lyons and lots more.

There are adventures too:- Journey into Space on Sunday mornings, The Lone Ranger, Gene Autrey, Hopalong Cassidy to name but a few. And of course, we play all the wonderful music from the years 1900 – 1969.
