Any Portuguese Speakers On The Island?

We get asked for help with all sorts of things, but this is the first request to see if VB readers can speak a particular language. See appeal below from Chris at The new Carnival Company in his own words. Ed

Interpretors:We have two visiting artists coming to work on the island next week from Rio – specialists in Carnival Costumes, floats and all things Brazilian.

They will be working on a big Carnival and disability project that will be premièred at the Arts Parade in Ryde in June and then have outing in London during the Olympic/Paralympic period.

Luiz Fernando Vianna (Lulu to his friends), only speaks Portuguese – he has never been out of Brazil before and never experienced temperatures below 18 degrees C! (He’s in for a shock!).

We are trying to find a couple of volunteers who speak Portuguese who could spend some time with us during the week 17th-23rd April to help with communication. But we’re not having much luck on the Island finding Portuguese speakers.

Can you readers help?

Get in touch with Chris if you can on (01983) 717868 or by emailing chris@thenewcarnivalcompany.com

Happy New Year to you all from the Isle of Bute, Western Scotland.

We had a Boxing Day swim at our local sailing club which raised £5500 (and still counting) for CLIC Sargeant Cancer Charities. Sea temperature (6 degrees C) very cool and a bitter east wind, so rather cooler than sunny Ventnor………

We wish you all a very peaceful 2009.
