Arthur Farley after winning the eSailing championship

Arthur Farley: World Championship win for Isle of Wight 20-year-old

Congratulations are in order for British athlete, European sailing champion and Isle of Wight sailor, Arthur Farley, who has been crowned world champion sailor at the conclusion of the day’s racing at the eSailing World Championships 2024.

With two silvers already under his belt, after a hard, well-fought double-points medal  race, Arthur gained the winning result over the weekend in Sweden.

After the race, whilst being interviewed by the commentator, one of the first things Arthur did was point out how strong the competition were, praising everyone for their skill.

Battling a chronic cancer diagnosis
Those who have followed Arthur’s sailing and eSailing career will know that the young Islander is courageously battling a chronic cancer diagnosis, while aspiring to return to the highest levels of his sport. In 2023 he became a member of the British Sailing Squad.

From Sweden, Arthur has gone straight onto Portugal to begin training for real-world sailing. He’ll turn 21 at the beginning of next year and moves into a new group, meaning everything steps up a gear.

He is now campaigning to be the UK representative in the ILCA7 single handed  dinghy class at the Los Angeles Olympic games in 2028.
