Audit Commission Launch OnePlace: Island Gets 2 / 4

The Audit Commission has today launched a new Website, OnePlace, that brings the reporting of a local services in an area into one place (wonder how they came up with that name?).

Audit Commission Launch OnePlace: Island Gets 2 / 4Obviously the first things that people will want to know is how does their local area do?

OnePlace has a number of different sections, reporting on Isle of Wight Council; Isle Of Wight Fire and Rescue Authority; Isle of Wight NHS Primary Care Trust; and Hampshire Police Authority.

To give an easily-accessible overview of how areas are doing as a whole, one section uses a Green and Red flag system to show exceptional performance and concerns respectively.

How does the Isle of Wight stand up?
First off it’s worth mentioning that the site is running incredibly slow at the moment, as the whole country tries to use it on its first day.

On the Green/Red flags – the Island neither gets high praise or damnation.

As far as organisational assessment for 2009

  • Isle of Wight Council: gets 2 out of 4, both for Managing performance and Use of resources.
  • Isle Of Wight Fire and Rescue Authority: 2 out of 4
  • Isle of Wight NHS Primary Care Trust: is only measured under Use of resources and gets 2 out of 4
  • Hampshire Police Authority gets a higher rating than the other organisations. The summary is the use of resources: 3 out of 4, which is made up of Managing finances: 3 out of 4; Governing the business: 2 out of 4; Managing resources: 3 out of 4.

Might become abolished
We heard on the radio that the National Conservative party have said that if they get into power, they would abolish this new site. Seems a bit weird. Why would you want to remove information from people?
