Beach Soccer: The Bees Are Crowned UK Champions 2008The Bees finished top of the first ever National Beach Soccer Super League and went on to win the UK Superfinal Cup last weekend in Jersey, 23-24th August, smashing the Knights 8-1 in the final.

The Bees had a great trip to Jersey and their beach soccer skills were shown to everyone watching in St. Hellier and will be on Nuts TV in September.

Their dedication was rewarded with success in retaining their title ‘UK Champions’ for the 5th year in a row.

Manager Giaonpaolo told us …

We played one of our best games of the season against an experienced Knights team. Matt Evans (young most valuable player of the tour) and Jamie Brenchley (MVP) were unstoppable and our link up play was faultless.

Even without key players Sean Rann, Steve Porter and Ricky Sprooles we managed to dominate the game and proved we’re the best team around.

Gianpaolo was back in goal after 2 months out and it was great to have Mark Mitchell back in the side.

In the exhibition match between England and Jersey, England won 7-4, with a Matty Evans hat trick.

Thanks to the Radisson hotel for putting us up.

Next games for the Bees are in the Hampshire FA Cup on the Isle of Wight 30-31st August.
