Bembridge Library Closure Meeting Tonight

Thanks for Richard Beet for sending this in about Bembridge library – Ed.

Bembridge Library Bembridge residents keen to keep the village library open beyond its official closure date of 30 June are being asked to meet tonight (Wednesday) at Bembridge Bowls Club.

The embryo library steering committee chaired by Keith Fagan will be presenting a range of options and has invited Cllr Jonathan Bacon, as well as councillors from the Parish Council, to attend.

Continuing concerns
The formation of the group reflects continuing concerns about the impending closure.

Said Keith: “Success depends on a number of factors including the leasing arrangements on the existing building and ensuring we gather sufficient volunteers to support the venture.

“We will also discuss the legality of the closure and whether we should support the challenge currently being mounted by Friends of the Libraries to stop the IW Council from withdrawing existing facilities.”

Tonight’s details
Tonight’s meeting starts at 6pm.
