Roll up, roll up …. the time has come again for the Islands musicians and DJ to show off their talents in a chance to play at Bestival in September.
Last year’s band winner and Ventnor’s own Bastila are, we hear on the verge of being signed to Rob Da Bank’s Sunday Best Recordings record label. Great news for this really enthusiastic bunch of lads.
Back to this year’s comp. What do you need to do? Quite straightforward really. If you want to take part, then get your newest and spankiest band demos into shape and send them on CD format (no eight-track cartridges please) to the lovely people at the Bestival office (address below). Send just three tracks and ensure the first one is your favourite.
If you’re a DJ, knock together a 30 minute mix CD that clearly illustrates the tunes and skills that could rock a Bestival dancefloor.
Rob Da Bank will be listening (with some help) to all the entries and choosing five DJs and five bands to battle it out at Ryde Theatre on Thursday 19th July 2007 in front of a “glittering and distinguished panel of judges from the worlds of the music industry, radio and other media”.
If you happen to knock the socks off the panels and win the comp, you will need to have photos and biogs ready asap, so start working out your favourite poses and get the camera out.
As befits such an open-minded jamboree of fun, no form of music is off-limits and originality is to be positively encouraged…
