The Blind Mole’s Ball with Boogie Belgique returns to Ventnor Fringe

One of our highlights from last year’s Ventnor Fringe Festival was the Blind Mole’s Ball.

The Ventnor Fringe team don’t simply organise events, they want you to have ‘an experience’ and the Blind Mole’s Ball was no exception.

It started with a cryptic quiz at Fringe HQ, followed by a magical mystery ride on the Fringe mini bus before arriving at the Ventnor Botanic Garden and being led into an underground bunker (used for growing mushrooms we later discovered) decked out with bar, soundsystem and more importantly the main act.

Boogie Belgique returns with full band
Belgian Electro-swing outfit, Boogie Belgique, provided the music and visuals which were perfectly matched with ‘secret venue’.

The good news is that the chaps from the other side of the English Channel are back again next week and will be heading to a mushroom bunker near you on Saturday 13th August between 10pm and 2am.

Boogie Belgique is the recording name of young Belgian producer Oswald Cromheecke who uses old jazz and swing samples to create new sounds. Although loosely ‘electro swing’ his extensive output over four albums takes the genre in some interesting new directions exploring trip-hop, abstract beats and electronic sounds.

Following a sell out performance at the Ventnor Fringe in 2015 this year Boogie Belgique returns as a full live band show with incredible visuals and new rooms opened up within the underground vaults. A very rare UK performance, this is the late night party you’ll want to be at!

This is one gig we can highly recommend. We’ve been listening to Boogie Belgique ever since and love their uplifting positive vibe.
