The state of the ground at Osborne House has been cited by the Blue Peter team as the reason for cancelling the fully-booked show that was due to take place on Saturday.
The team are in the process of setting up an alternative venue, which will be on the mainland. Plans are advanced and they’re just waiting waiting for the new local authority to approve their safety plans.
They hope to be able to make the announcement this afternoon.
Island tickets still valid
Those with tickets for the Isle of Wight event will be able to use them at the new venue.
Ticket holders, who were updated late on Monday afternoon about timings etc, should be notified once the confirmation has been made.
The Olympic Torch special was due to beamed live from Osborne House on the Isle of Wight between 9-9.30am on Saturday morning, with a day of family activities leading up to the arrival of the Olympic Torch at 4pm.
