Isle of Wight Conservative MP, Bob Seely, appeared today (Tuesday) on BBC Radio Four’s World at One programme.
He told the presenter that in the last 2-3 weeks, he’d received more emails on the animal sentience Bill than on the issue of Boris Johnson.
Bob was questioned about the actions of the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, who is accused of lying to Parliament about attending Downing Street parties whilst the rest of the country was in Lockdown or following other Covid measures.
It’s a question that News OnTheWight also asked a week ago, to which we’re still awaiting a response.
Seely: I don’t know how I am going to vote
Sarah Montague asked Bob whether he would vote for Boris Johnson to be investigated further. He replied,
“Genuinely I don’t know how I am going to vote. I think we all make mistakes, clearly, but I do think the mother of all apologies is the order of the day.
“It’s quite clear that if Number Ten staff didn’t think they were risking death by having an end of work drinks. Clearly the rules imposed on us were not believed by some.”
Covid-19 modelling questioned
Bob used the opportunity to return to an issue he raised in January 2022 – questioning the Covid-19 modelling,
“It begs the question why blinkered public health officials and indeed ministers forced them on us – and the answer is they were probably spooked by flawed and incomplete data presented by Imperial College.
“There will be another debate on this issue next Thursday in the House of Commons where I present more evidence to show that the information …”
Seely: Had more emails on animal welfare
He was interrupted by Sarah and asked whether he was more forgiving of the PM because he thought the rules shouldn’t have been in place. He replied,
“It slightly affects my opinion, the last lady who said ‘god know how many emails Tories MPs are getting, well I can tell you on this issue in the last 2-3 weeks I’ve had between 150-200 emails on this subject and I’ve had more on animal welfare on the animal sentience Bill and I have an electorate of 116,000, which is twice the average and three times the average of Scotland.”
