Now all of that election stuff is out of the way – let’s get on with the serious news.
A man dressed as comic-book character Snoopy attempted to break IN to the Isle of Wight Albany Prison at the beginning of this month it has just emerged.
It’s reported in The Sun today that they attempted to break down the staff door, while waving what looked like a gun – all in the attempt to spring a family member from the jail – only that it was the wrong prison, they were in Camp Hill.
Security concerns where raised because of what looked like a gun, despite the frustrated attempts of ‘Snoopy’ and his accomplice. The ‘gun’ turned out to be a water pistol.
“… one of the worst attempted jail breaks ever”
An ‘insider’ is quoted in The Sun as saying, “They are very close together but this has got to rank as one of the worst attempted jail breaks ever.”
Island Police confirmed to the paper that two men, aged 43 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and detained under the Mental Health Act.
