A reminder of this event taking place this afternoon (Saturday) at Quay Arts.
It’s only £3 to get in and sounds like it’ll be a fascinating talk.
Local historian, Brian Greening, presents a nostalgic storytelling of the life of Island character, Bill Shepard, at Quay Arts on Saturday 20 October.
The talk and slide show will cover key moments in Bill’s amazing life and history: from his ancestors on Newport Quay in 1370; his schooldays; his job working on the Quay; his five years in the RAF and the horrors he experienced; his return to the Island and his country pursuits – rabbiting, bird watching, flowers and fauna; his local history studies; his job as a rat catcher; and twenty three years at the Crematorium!
Doors open at 4pm and the talk begins at 5pm in the Anthony Minghella Theatre. Tickets are available for a suggested voluntary donation of £3. Call Quay Arts’ box office on 01983 822490 or buy online www.quayarts.org
