Briddlesford Lodge Farm bring home the trophies in UK Guernsey Herds competition

Congratulations to the Griffin family at Briddlesford Lodge Farm, Wootton who picked up a number of trophies in the English Guernsey Cattle Society Awards at the weekend.

On The Wight heard from Judi Griffin that the beautiful Bluebell family (see Bluebell above) returned to the Isle of Wight with The Alfred Chester Beatty Memorial Trophy for the family of three producing the ‘Best Weight of Fat Plus Protein’.

If you’re wondering what ‘Fat Plus Protein’ means, Judi told On The Wight that in layman’s language means the creamiest milk. We’re sure that anyone who has sampled the milk from Briddlesford would agree.

More trophies
These delightful Guernsey cows also won the English Guernsey Cattle Society trophy for the family of five producing the Best Weight of Fat plus Protein.

Not content with those two trophies, the herd also won the Mrs Cary Barnard Perpetual Memorial Trophy for the highest percentage of cows – 57.1% – born in 2003 that have qualified for the Certificate of Merit.

These mature cows have consistently performed well since 2003.

Well done to all involved, great recognition for the farm as well as the Isle of Wight.
