Budget Cuts: Current Rubbish Collection ‘Arrangements’ To Be Reviewed (proposal)

Previous arrangements are being reconsidered.

We have just seen the full Isle of Wight council cut proposals which have just been outlined in preparation of the December Cabinet Meeting.

Here’s what they say about Waste Management …

Reducing costs within waste management are severely restricted by the terms of the current contract which lasts until 2015. However, it may be possible to reduce costs by reviewing the current collection arrangements (whilst maintaining a weekly element) to limit costs within the current contract.

Any changes must be linked to active encouragement for residents to reduce and recycle thus limiting the risk of fines as result of high levels of disposal of waste via land fill.

Further work will be undertaken to examine the opportunities for savings within the contract.
