Bumper Saturday at Quay ArtsQuay Quest Family Learning Pack
Visitors are in for a rare treat with three visual arts events on the same day. Starting off with the launch of our brand new ‘Quay Quest’ family learning pack, inspired by The West Collection – A Quay Vision and specially created by Hastings artist, Ed Boxall.

Families can collect the packs free of charge when they arrive, at Box Office and start on a journey of views and visions to explore the building, its intricacies and the changing exhibitions inside them.

Jacqui Ager, Education Officer for Quay Arts added ”We are very excited to have this beautifully designed pack from artist Ed Boxall, to give free to families who visit Quay Arts. Ed has very cleverly managed to combine aspects of the Quay Arts building with what people can see in our gallery spaces, to create fun and engaging activities.’

Families will also have the chance to meet the artist, Ed Boxall between 2 – 4pm.

A Quay Vision Screening and Talk
Afterwards, head upstairs to the Anthony Minghella Theatre for the screening of the Bespoke companies’ film ‘A Quay Vision’.

This film tells the story of Quay Arts on the Isle of Wight – the building, its history and the community that made it; at the same time it gives an insight into the provenance of the West Collection that is now being exhibited on The West Gallery walls.

Featuring interviews with island artists and personalities among them Anne Lewington, Peter Wright, harbour master Wayne Pritchett and Carinthia West, guardian of the West Collection, this film follows the creation of an arts centre from the seed of an idea right through to the mounting of a major exhibition 35 years later.

‘It has been fascinating working on this project and discovering how people within a community can work together to make a shared dream reality,’ said Natasha Serlin, Director of ‘A Quay Vision’

The film will be introduced by daughter of Christine and Michael West and Rope Store Gallery exhibitor, Carinthia West who will give a talk on her work, immediately followed by the film screening of ‘A Quay Vision’ by the Bespoke Film Company made in collaboration with Island Schools.
