Bunch of Platinum Awards for Isle of Wight filmmaker, Rowena Amos

A couple of weeks ago News OnTheWight reported on Isle of Wight film maker, Rowena Amos securing Toyah Willcox for her latest short film being shot on the Island.

This week we can announce that her most recent short film, Strange Waters, has picked up nine Platinum Awards at the Fortean Film Festival.

  • Best British Short
  • Best Director – Andy McLeod
  • Best Producer – Rowena Amos
  • Best Soundtrack JC Grimshaw and David Coffin
  • Best Drone Footage – Kevin Early
  • Best Trailer
  • Best Poster & Press Kit

Other Island connections
The credits for the film bring with them some familiar Isle of Wight names. Wardrobe and continuity by Angelina Grimshaw, music by JC Gimshaw, stills by Gianpaolo Giancovich and Dave Russell from FilmWight was the fixer.

Strange Waters was shot not only at Spitbank Fort on the Solent, but also Ventnor Botanic Garden (the tunnel scenes) and Ventnor Arts Club – members might recognise the distinctive carpet.
