Campaigners against the proposed demolition of Dover Road properties in East Cowes will be demonstrating outside County Hall on Tuesday afternoon.
As reported last week, members of the Isle of Wight Executive will be meeting from 6pm on Tuesday to discuss approval of Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) for Dover Road properties should they be needed in the proposed regeneration of East Cowes.
The demolition of the properties is included in plans to expand the marshalling yard at the Red Funnel ferry terminal.
Public protest
Campaigners, including residents and businesses, will be meeting between 4.30-4.45 outside the council offices in Newport to protest at the proposal.
They argue that the treatment of residents in Dover Road “has been outrageous” and fair offers have not been forthcoming from the ferry company.
Active protest
Protest banners have been spotted in properties and businesses in Dover Road over the last few days.
Dover Road: Intended to remain by SEEDA
The following graphic is from the SEEDA’s regeneration design statement. Campaigners argue it clearly shows the intention was for houses in Dover Road to remain.
