Those who follow Bembridge fisherman Mike Curtis on Twitter, will remember that last year he received a visit from The Hairy Bikers.
Yesterday the programme, Hairy Bikers’ Best of British, was aired on BBC2 (available to watch on BBC iPlayer until 19th April) and saw Dave Myers and Si King go out on Mike’s boat the Shooting Star.
Mike explained to the Hairy Bikers his sustainable approach to fishing and passion to provide a variety of fish types for his shop in Bembridge, Captain Stan’s.
Testing the produce
After a successful morning catching several varieties of fish including, Dover Sole, Rock Salmon, Stingray (which was put straight back into the water) and even Lobster, the men head to Lockslane Bistro where the fresh fish is cooked and served.
Best of British Food Hero
Also of note on the iPlayer page for yesterday’s episode, is a link to a Hairy Bikers programme first broadcast in 2011 when the chaps ventured down to Ventnor to meet fisherman Geoff Blake.
