Tonight sees Shanklin’s Annual Town meeting take place at Falcon Cross Hall, Falcon Cross Road, Shanklin.
As well as usual business, Catherine Bearder MEP will be present to discuss the issues surrounding Assisted Area Status for the Isle of Wight.
Readers will remember that the full council voted through a motion in June 2012 to try to secure financial help for the Island by gaining Assisted Area Status.
After much groundwork by the Isle of Wight Trades Union council (IWTUC), the Isle of Wight council are aiming for the Island to be considered for level three status.
The meeting, which is open to members of the public, starts at 7.30pm.
