Cheetah Marine Pulled From DCC For ‘Highway Issues’

I’ve just got off the phone with the Cheetah Marine planning case officer, who was very helpful.

He said that the appearance of the Cheetah Marine proposal at the DCC was pulled by the Head of Planning, Bill Murphy for ‘Highway issues.’

He explained that it’s quite a complicated application as the part of the land where the re-aligned road would run through is owned by the council.

I asked if it was down to the difficulty of placing a two-way road and footpath in place of where the current footpath is.

He confirmed there were issues with the width and parking bays, but the major issue is with the “visibility around the Eastern side of the building.”

In the latest plans that Cheetah Marine submitted, the road was shown to bend around behind it, potentially creating visibility problems.

The council are awaiting a copy of the plans showing the details.

The case officer said that all being well, the case could be before the next DCC.

Separately, I’ve heard that Councillor Fitzgerald-Bond was most irate about the delay and was demanding to see people in the planning department today. I understand that he hasn’t seen the case officer today, but may well have seen the Head of Planning. Good to see that he’s so behind the project.

The discussion continues over on the forum.
