Police confirm they were called to a road traffic incident at 9.05am this morning.
They were answering reports of a collision involving a bus and a child in Trafalgar Road, Newport.
According to police, the child received serious leg injuries, which are not life-threatening.
Trafalgar Road is closed at junctions with Carisbrooke Road and Nelson Road. now open again.
Initial police enquiries are continuing. No arrests at the scene.
