College receives major national award for outstanding GCSE results

Fantastic news in from Carisbrooke College. Ed

Following significant improvements to GCSE exam results in 2015, Carisbrooke College scooped a major award at the London Guildhall on Tuesday 8th of September.

`The E4Education PiXL Award for achieving outstanding GCSE results in 2015` was accepted on behalf of the school by Headteacher Peter Shaw and Assistant Headteacher Louise Southwell.

Head teacher, Peter Shaw, said,

“Those involved in education will know that PiXL is a national organisation of real significance, working with an enormous number of schools to improve outcomes for young people.

“All of us at Carisbrooke are thrilled that the hard work of our students and staff is now being acknowledged on a wider stage.

“School improvement can be a bit of a roller coaster at times, but I suppose that makes moments like this a bit more special.”

Charles Chapman, Chairman of the Isle of Wight Council, in Carisbrooke this week to meet students, was shown the award during his meeting with student leaders.

Peter Shaw said,

“We have already challenged our current Year 11 cohort and everyone here who works for them to build upon the success of last year so that our upward momentum can be continued.”

More Tory divide and rule. Set one section of society (low income earners, not receiving benefits) against another (lower income earners or unable to work, receiving benefits)? All agreed by the usual men in suits

But the point is that being disabled or unemployed should not mean that we cannot attend a mainland Hospital, or look for work on the mainland. But of course there will always be those who want what we (disabled) get, except the pain, the daily struggle, the… Read more »

So this means that people that do work and travel most week days and keep the ferry companies going get no relief. I have no problem with people with limited abilities or those that work on the mainland and receive certain benefits, but this is a farce. It is a smoke screen to make them all look good.
