Isle of Wight council has issued a footpath closure in West Wight that has raised concern.
Footpath F35 from Compton to Freshwater Bay has been closed due to a void opening up on the verge where the footpath runs south of the Military Road.
The official notice from Isle of Wight council reads:
Part of Public Footpath F35 (coastal path) has been closed at Afton Down, this is because of a void that has opened up next to the path at a very narrow steep point.
The diversion will be on the opposite side of the Military Road using byway F33 and bridleway F34.
