Council Advice To Wightbus Users

This in from the council in their own words. Ed

Earlier this year, IW Council announced it would withdraw the Wightbus service from 31 August.

The council has been able to secure services on many of the existing routes by working with local community groups in partnership with Southern Vectis.

To allow Southern Vectis sufficient time to take ownership of the Wightbus vehicles and brand them in its colours, and before the community groups begin operating the routes, the council has agreed an early transfer of the vehicles.

Moss-branded coaches to be used during summer
Consequently for the remainder of the summer, some Wightbus services will be carried out by Southern Vectis using blue Moss-branded coaches while the Wightbus vehicles are rebranded.

Service 32 (Cowes – Gurnard), Service 24 (Yaverland – Shanklin) and the 1240 Service 23 (Shanklin – Newchurch) will be run by those vehicles rather than the familiar Wightbus vehicle. Route and timings are unaffected.

This arrangement will continue in place until the end of the current timetable on Friday September 2nd.
