Council Gives Residents Better and Easier Access To Services

ISLE OF Wight Council is set to launch a comprehensive A to Z directory which will make it easier for residents to access the many different services that the authority provides.

The A to Z provides residents with the choice of contacting the council by phone, via email and website or face to face in our help centres.

One phone call to 01983 821000 will give residents the chance to gain access to 113 of the services listed through the call centre.

If they cannot help directly, staff will then be able to advise on who to contact for the many other services which are listed in the new directory.

The council will also pledge to respond to customer emails within two working days, by letter within 15 days and face to face enquiries in our help centres within five minutes.

Benefit claims will also be processed within 20 days.

Isle of Wight Council cabinet member for residents and resources Councillor Barry Abraham said: “Responding to resident’s enquiries speedily and efficiently is a top priority for this authority.

“This authority provides hundreds of separate services — many of which local residents know little about.

“The A-Z will enable residents to find out what the council does in one easy to use guide does and our pledge to be more customer focused will ensure that people can gain access to those services as swiftly as possible.”
