Earlier in the week, IWC told OnTheWight that Island Roads (IR) had been instructed to clear the fallen rock at Belgrave Road, Ventnor.
Turns out, this wasn’t the case.
Ventnor councillor, Ed Blake got in touch with OnTheWight today (Friday) after he’d found out that it was only this very afternoon, at 15:48, that the council had officially asked IR to do the work.
We took this to the council and an officer, who didn’t want to be on the record, told us that the response to us earlier in the week was a ‘misunderstanding’ – they had previously written to the IR, but hadn’t taken it through ‘the formal process’ to make it official.
What the people of Ventnor are interested in is when will it start, when will it be cleared and when can the road come back into use.
Unfortunately, as of this moment there is no actual start date.
