The CP reported yesterday that “Cowes Enterprise College has appointed an interim headteacher to take the helm until the end of the year.”
OnTheWight got in touch with the College to find out more but were told that “nothing has been released as yet.”
At the meeting of the CEC Trust and Governing body in February (read the minutes), it was reported, “The Governing Body in consultation with the local authority is seeking to appoint a temporary Executive Head Teacher to be in post by Easter, to supplement the support offered by the Improvement Partner.”
Former Academy head teacher
According to the CP report, the new interim head will be Christine Hardman.
Mrs Hardman recently announced her early retirement from Hagley Park Academy in Rugeley, Staffordshire to spend more time with her family.
Transition to Academy status?
Minutes of the CEC Trust and Governing body meeting also state, “The Governing Body has met with the DfE and Local Authority to explore a transition to Academy status.”
It went on to say, “The DfE found the OFSTED Action Plan sufficient at this stage. A majority of those present accepted that if OFSTED assessed the Governing Body as a strength this should be built upon as we move forward, with the support of the Local Authority and the Improvement Partner.”
Until we receive information from the Governing Body or College, it is not clear whether Mrs Hardman’s appointment is connected to a transition to Academy status for the College or not.
The College was placed in Special Measures earlier this year.
