Last Thursday afternoon, the Cowes Floating Bridge was suspended after breaking down yet again.
By Friday evening engineers had identified that the fault was related to a drive motor.
The Isle of Wight council said that further investigation was being undertaken and an update is expected this week.
This morning, Tuesday 31st August, the Bridge remains out of service and a foot passenger launch is in operation.
Love: Confident a more permanent solution will be found
Cllr Karl Love told News OnTheWight,
“I’ve been in discussion with the portfolio Cabinet member for transport and want to thank Cllr Jordan for the support which is given to the people of East and West Cowes in this matter.
“I’m finally feeling confident that a more permanent solution will be found.”
