Cross-Solent travel disrupted by high winds (and electricity supplies) (updated)

As we Tweeted earlier today, Hovertravel had to suspend their cross-Solent service due to high winds around 5pm.

Later this evening and we see Red Funnel have suspended not only their high-speed passenger service until further notice, but their car ferry has also been suspended until 23:50 due to the weather conditions.

Update: *High Speed* service has resumed, the 22:45 SOWC & 23:15 WCSO will run as scheduled. Vehicle ferry pending on weather conditions but may return to service at 2350.

Wightlink do not report any changes to their scheduled service.

In other news ….
Residents in Newport are reporting a power cut. IWR are reporting that “1,500 homes in and around Newport are without electric after a power cut tonight”.

The outage was said to be due to a fault in the mains.

Residents in West Wight are also suffering the same problem, so fingers crossed for the rest of us.
